Columbia High School's chapter of WIT inducted 28 new members into the organization at their annual induction ceremony. WIT members Natalie Gallardo (vice-president), Yuleni Angeles (secretary), Madison Albair, and Braylynn Henderson led the event with opening remarks by CHS principal William Jeffery. Sponsors Robert Lawrence and Jared Stavinoha presented new members with certificates and bracelets to signify official membership in the organization. The highlight of the evening was keynote speaker Representative Cody Vasut. Representative Vasut, a native of Brazoria County, is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in business. He is a currently a lawyer and represents district 25 in the state of Texas. His speech focused on the importance of STEM education in all areas and highlighted his own experience using math, particularly statistics, in both law and politics. The evening was concluded with a reception where friends and family could congratulate the new members.
